Yeah, this scam has been hitting Craigslist recently. The dogs are touted as amazingly adorable- I think they look like oversized hamsters with flattened faces- and the same picture. A yorkie with a blue gem necklace and a bow.
So the deal is, you don't pay for the dog, you pay for the "shipping company" that has a fake website that you pay to ship the dog overseas. Of course, you pay a flat fee with your credit card that is supposed to be $250-300 bucks- you end up getting your card maxed to the limit for a dog that doesn't exist.
When I tried to sell my horse, I got tons of people wanting to buy the horse, sight unseen, for their backyard in Africa. Uh-huh. THey were written in horrible english- I usually replied in the affirmative, I'd be happy to cash their check and wire the change to a third party- but do they want the horse shipped live or boxed in freezer wrap?
Two guys actually replied that they
would be excited to get the meat....
