I bought my 944 on eBay for $1750, the engine in the passenger seat. I've probably spent a total (including the car) of $4-$5K returning it to working condition. There were definitely some kinks in the project tho, including having to reweld the crankshaft UP to "oversized journals" levels. How on earth?? I may or may not buy on eBay again. But I was well aware of the risk when I bought it to expect issues, just not on that level.
