I am terribly claustrophobic. I requested 'something' when the neurologist scheduled me for a MRI (cluster headaches). Whatever I was given seem to have no effect at the time; however, I scarcely remember anything about the procedure. A few months later my wife and I were discussing the procedure and I had exclaimed about how long the procedure had taken. She laughed and was very quick to interject that one set of shots took more than 30 minutes alone and several were taken. I was truly shocked at this new information - I would have sworn that the entire procedure was less than 5 minutes.

I had a second set done a short while later and since I was a veteran with this procedure, I consciously was going to focus on what was happening... again, the two pills (one thirty minutes prior and the other taken just before the process) made me a good patient. Oddly, I felt no difference at the time - other than not being nervous or bothered by the MRI. If you are uneasy about the procedure, take something.
