Jimmy Carter and the Palesteinians

This was posted to the C Rose Website this afternoon. See if you hear any of the same comments on any of the mainstream media outlets?

This whole discussion has been side tracked to the blame game between the Israelies and Palesteinians. As long as neither side will stop and take a good look at their own culpability and not just the other partys, this insanity will continue ad infinitum. The real question posed by Citizen Carters appearence on Mr Roses interview program is the legitimacy of Citzens Carters involvment in the process. What motivation, what authority does Citizen Carter have to act as he does? What does Citizen Carter bring to the table that no one else has? Is Citizen Carter being used by Hamas to give themselves credibility? Is Hamas wanting a peace or is bent of the utter destruction of Israel? Are the Israelies oblivious to how their neighbors view them let alone the world? Has Israel become the very thing that they despise in their hard line concept of defense and expansion? Does Israel think that ANY criticism of their state is an attempt to murder them? Those are questions that no ones answer, except for the participants in the conflict matters.

The cold hard truth of the matter is that the United States interest does not require that the Palestinian, Israeli conflict be resolved. Merely that it be contained. The strategic issue seems to have been long resolved, that being a military conflict between nation states that could jeopardize the stability of the region leading to a larger world wide conflict. The United States even enjoys an advantage in the conflict continuing. It distracts the involved parties from seeing what the United States is trying to accomplish. The United States remains the arbiter of the dispute which requires that both parties curry favor with the United States and are disposed to granting requests of them that are in the United States interests.
