I've had four--both shoulders, brachioplexus, and my noggin (yes, there is a brain in there....somewhere).

I passed on meds for the first three. Why, I dunno. Maybe I was trying to be a tough guy. The shoulder ones were the worst; they clamp you into a frame to keep your shoulder immobilized, THEN stick you head first down the sewer pipe. So you feel like you can't move even if you want to...it's uncomfortable, and your nose is 1" from the tube.

Not to mention the thing sounds like a jackhammer next to your head. Bring foam earplugs.

I took a Valium on the fourth. Made it easier and less stressful.

Take the meds about a 1/2 hour in advance so they have time to get ya buzzin'.
