. I think I recall in another thread long ago that I stated that I HAVE used the word, many times, back when I was a kid (even amongst black friends), but never in a derogatory manner. I grew up with Richard Pryor, "N***** Please" was his trademark "line", and become one of ours too. Several years later, I saw Pryor denounce it's use, and vow to never use it again, and I haven't either since. I'm rarely politically correct, but that one I can go along with.
