Hagee wasn't McCain's pastor for 20 years. He wasn't McCain's spiritual adviser. He wasn't part of McCain's campaign team. He wasn't McCain's kid's godfather.
McCain never defended Hagee, only to throw him under the bus after it started affecting him in the polls.
Not even close.
