Thanks guys for reading this. I did buy it for $2,750.00 which I thought is fair. Besides, I believe he had that much in it and would not come down. I drove it home and it ran well when off idle. A suprising amount of torque at low revs and high gear. I have posted questions about what I have found so far which is not major. I HATE body work but am not bothered by mecahnical or electrical work. My profession is fixing CNC milling machines and lathes. This is to replace my son's and I project 914 with just too much cancer. The major problems (see other posts) are:
Miss at idle believe to be vacuum leak related.
No brake boost, no MPG gauge, believe to be related to above.
Ignition cut out at 3,800 RPM possibly same cause.
Hole in middle section of exhaust canister.
A lot of crispy wires in the drivers door.
Will need to replace weak synchros in trans.
Trying to find cheap documentation (service stuff).
I promise to ask more questions, and share answers.
