+1 for Thunderbird. Much better than Outlook in many respects.
I had Outlook "big-brother-ize" a sequence of important e-mails a few years ago - it apparently decided that I wasn't smart enough to know whether or not certain attachments were safe or not, so it started blocking them all (and gave me NO OPTION to say, "yes, this is safe and I really do know what I'm doing here - it's okay, please give me the attachment"), which made things a huge PITA for me on that job.
That was the end of Outlook for me. No such problems or "we know what's best for you" attitude from Thunderbird. The junk mail filter is great and while it does block images/attachments from unknown senders, you CAN override the block with a simple one-click button that's right there in the upper right of the message. Not buried in some g-damn sub-menu 15 layers deep, or not there at all. . .
My only regret is that it doesn't have the built-in calendar and task list like Outlook did. But I have other software for that. I'm never going back to Outlook. Ever.
