I had LASIK when the failure rate was 3%. I went from legally blind in one eye and severely nearsighted in the other (correctible with glasses or contacts to better than 20/20) to about 20/70 with glasses and uncorrectible low contrast acuity and "graininess" in my vision. I cannot see road signs at over 100 feet unless they are black and white. Any lower contrast and I cannot read them. For six years I was almost unable to read because the letters on the page were "chunky" and I had to "decode" them. The whole thing put me into a severe depression for about 3-4 months. It slowly got better, but I cannot resolve detail to restore vision beyond 20/70, 10+ years later
But good luck. And be sure to read all the paperwork they give you to waive their liability.
