Funny thing stumbling on this post as I just completely removed a "professional" alarm system in my car 2 days ago.
It took me hours the repair the hacked up wiring harness by disconnecting everything and re-soldering/ heat shrinking everything back.
The way these people tap into the existing harness should be illegal.
Come to think of it, I have never come across an alarm shop that does professional work.
There is nothing I cant stand more than finding electrical tape used on a car to cover a connection. The stuff is just plain nasty in an automotive environment.
