My sister has it. Complained for years about stomach problems, but she is a bit of a hypochondriac (seriously) so it wasnt caught until she was 27. She had a surgery where they cut out a small section of scarred lower intestine. She watches her diet close but says she has gotten used to it now. Diet, with a pill or two a day and she says she feels normal 99% of the time.

She was told though that she will have to have the surgery again for sure, but not for 10-15 years, and since they know about it now, it will not get as bad before the next one. Just something she has to deal with but I suppose the good news is that most forms of the disease are controllable with a bit of effort.
