Best Exhaust Option for 964?

I have a 1990 964 C4. The car is very good except it has a modified exhaust that, for me (ans I'm sure others), is too loud at times. The secondary muffler has been removed and either the primary modified to accept a sport tip, or, a sport muffler has been installed. I am not sure if it has a cat bypass as I haven't dropped the panel yet to take a look.

I have purchased a used secondary as I was planning on returning exhaust to stock (I thought, at the time, I had a stock primary, not so sure now). However, I am considering putting a primary bypass on and using the secondary.

I need some guidance as to how this will sound. I like a good exhaust note, but dont appreciate the cabin booming with the sound and I dont like drawing attention when I use the throttle.

Also, what is impact of not having a cat, if, in fact, I do have a cat bypass. As the car sounds like its emitting noise from the driver's side (left hand drive), I get the feeling the cat (or bypass) is radiating sound, i.e., its thin walled. Is this common?

Thanks for your help,

Dan
