This is rich... We had one bill us for a missed appt. This was the wrong thing at the wrong time as I was already a little miffed at this office form some previouos appts. I drove to their office and handed the business manager an envelope. She opened it at the main desk in the waiting room and started laughing and asked me what it was I handed her. I explained to her, loud enough that all in the room could hear, that this was a bill for my services. It covered 10 hours at
my hourly rate that covered the time accumulated while I sat in their stupid office after my scheduled appt for my son (this place was the worst for this fairly commonplace overbooking). I told her I would be happy to pay the charges for the missed appt as soon as I received a check from them covering my time. She was pissed, but dropped the argument quickly.
On a side note... at the next visit, the doc (who we actually really liked) gave us a big thank you. He said he had been so frustrated with the way the office was being run lately. He shared the same thing a few docs in my family have complained about to me a few times - that they get frustrated with the business side of being a doc... but it is hard for them to concentrate on being a good doc if they have to be a good business manager too.
