Have to agree with Mule. . .
"Best" is not necessarily the same as "most benevolent". Hitler may have been a despot, but he unified a broken and demoralized country under a banner of frenzied nationalism the likes of which the world has never seen. Incredibly effective, influential and powerful. Evil, yes, but effective. . .
I find it interesting that every single one of tabs' choices is a religious leader. Just goes to show how effective religion is as a mechanism of social control. I suppose one could even argue that Hitler's nationalism with respect to the Third Reich rose almost to the level of religion/religious fervor. Just an observation from one person who is ALWAYS skeptical of the motives of supposedly "non-secular" religious interests. . .
