Over the decades, Pano has published tons of useful information -- much of what is posted here merely recycles articles from Pano (collected in the Up-Fookin' series).

I agree that the Internet - esp. the advent of forums with html (so that images and sound can be provided) has laregley obviated the "central authority publishing articles or answering questions" model.
