+1 Combo's are great for a kids room, but you likely will find mediocre stuff when shopping them. Regular DVD players are now like VCR's, ie: disposable.

At this stage of the game, get widescreen HD TV and BluRay DVD. A regular DVD player that allows 480p could suffice if the BluRay doesn't fit the budget.
