FWIW I bought a nice Toshiba DVD player for just over 50 bucks new right before Christmas. They are rather small and don't take up too much room. Smaller stand alone TVs are fairly cheap these days. I'd stick with separates, when one breaks you can fix or change it out. On a combo you have a more limited choice. I just have seen what my in-laws and others around the offices do and how long the stuff lasts. The combo units just do not stand up so well from what I've seen.
