Absolutely. It has always seemed counter-intuitive to me that oil was formed fully from biological matter. It just doesn't seem logical that an incredibly vast amount of dead plants and animals would happen to exist in a spot that would eventually turn into oil. When one realizes the sheer amount of biological matter required to have formed some of the existing oil fields (like Ghawar at almost 6900 cubic
miles according to the numbers above), it seems even less plausible.
