Whether or not the nation falls irreversibly onto the path of inevitable decline and collapse will be determined in the next 5-10 years.

I think it's already too late for CA. It's only a matter of time before the state government here collapses due to the weight of too many handouts, unsustainable policy, excessive bureaucracy, lack of vision and focus and trying to be too many different things to too many different people. Eventually the state will go bankrupt and state government will completely implode. I honestly believe this will happen here. It's just a matter of when.

The same could eventually happen to the federal government too, just not quite sure if we're at that tipping point yet. We're very, very close though. The policy decisions of the next few years will determine whether or not it happens.
