It's been a few year since I've dealt with Sears but, in the past all I had to give them was my address and the computer brought up a history of everything purchased from appliances to tools if it was a credit transaction, = no receipt needed. I thought that was pretty kewl. You didn't say if these were cash purchases or not?
I do recall seeing a problem with compressor pressure switches (and simple repairs) related to the "do not touch this screw ever" post somewhere in my wandering searches. Have you tried that?
Given that.. unfortunately nothing is as it was! I too remember the wonderland that Sears was. Anyone else remember the popcorn popper?
