I'm no gun expert, but I seem to remember Kevin Costner making a big deal about the weapons authenticity in Dances With Wolves. Something to the effect of not wanting to fire a six shooter seven times. Although that didn't seem to bother him in Silverado, but I assume he just didn't have the control since that was Kasdan's movie.
I will say that Silverado did make me look up Henry rifles, just to see what all the fuss was about.
