the grape vine says:

PM declared quite loudly..."v1" after V1 heard loud bangs..(compressor stalls) PF decided to abort after V1...
when conducting abort used only wheel brakes and no reverse.. spoilers were not deployed. wheel brakes dont work so well (at high speeds) without the spoilers deployed because some of the weight is off the wheels(lift produced by the wing).

Im pretty sure the spoilers automatically deploy in an abort when thrust levers go into reverse ?

abort after V1+ no reverse thrust+ no spoilers = good chance your going 4x4ing
