You nailed it on the pros. I remember watching a game with my dad, decades ago.
Noting that the guy at the plate was batting under .200, I said that he wasn't any good.
My dad responded that he was DAMNED GOOD....because this was the big leagues, and he was there.
Dads can be wise like that sometimes...
