Your statement implies owning a "rebel flag" equates to racism. I take exception to that, as neither owning nor displaying any one of the flags of the Confederacy identifies a person as a racist.
Though a white racist may want to identify himself with the "old south" and the times when the white man ruled the world, using a Confederate flag as a means to that identity only shows the persons ignorance. Ignorance of history. Ignorance of fact.
Those who would demean the Confederate flag, who seek to remove it from sight along with our statues and monuments; those people are brethren to the racist. They are kin, bonded by their ignorance.
