My wife and I bought a 2000 VR6 Jetta new. It is a VERY impressive car. It turned, accelerated, and stopped very well.
However, three transmissions in 23k miles was my breaking point. At the point where it needed a fourth, VW said that they will not replace the trans again "because its just going to do it again".I understand that even a new car has some occasional problems, but we had all kinds. We lemon lawed the car and received a 100% refund on all expenses including 1.5 years of payments from VW.
People gotta stand up for what they believe in.
True the car is made in Mexico, but sub-assemblies are assembled in Germany.
