The Open Source alternatives are generally considered to be 100% compatible but in reality nothing ever is.
Had a really severe f'up wit a developer that was using Open Office. Tracking changes did come over properly and we lost months of running changes to some documentation.

I was referring to iWork or whatever it's called. I know that MS makes Office for Mac (which you and I agree is not 100% but damn close. I thought iWork was their alternative.
FWIW it's not a brand pride thing, just a realistic question. If I sent my customer a file from iWork and they had a problem they would jump down my throat and rightly so about messing with what works.
