One thumbs up I would give to Apple in the MacBook generation of laptops is they've made it VERY EASY for the user to install RAM or replace a hard drive. <5 minutes for anything.
On my old IBook, replacing the hard drive was about an hour-and-a-half process, but only after I got good at it.
