What oil _is_ left is not easy to get. It requires deep water drilling in many instances; and that ain't cheap.

So we made laws against it to save the oil companies from spending too much?

The basic problem is not whether Florida and California restrict drilling off their coasts (leaving La. as the rig festooned state), it is the issues above.

And, yes, I've fished off of rigs and caught a lot of snapper - nothing new about that. Everybody has known it since at least the 1950s.

But they are man made & inherently evil!

Our rigs are much safer than most, but an accident can still cause a great deal of pollution. Not to mention the problems when the oil comes ashore - some chronic and some only when there are big storms.
Can you give us some examples of those?
