I'm glad your car is running again.

Cleaning the connector does not seem like it would actually fix the real problem. If you had continuity (A short circuit), a dirty connector is not likely the cause. Most of the oil and dirt in the engine compartment is not conductive.

You may have wiggled the short so that it is no longer in contact, but your problem may return.
