I worked on a few platforms off the coast near Long Beach when I was in my twenties, safer than the helicopter or barge ride over for sure. Plus you can eat really well there. Really well. Anything you want to eat, they'll make it for you. As much as you want. Nothing else to do except work, eat, and sleep on one of those.
