What isn't needed, is an energy plan. What is needed is to get the Stupids out of the way and let business decide what to do.
Nuclear wasn't stopped by a law outlawing Nuclear. It was killed by over regulating it to the point of being too expensive, compared to oil, gas and coal.
WE STILL HAVEN'T HAD A COMMERCIAL NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DEATH IN THE USA. EVER!
Can ANY other part of the power industry say that? Nuclear is THE safest power production in the US.
My apartment buiding was all electric heat. It was built up this way in the middle 1970's because so much power generation was going Nuclear. If it had continued, we would be producing 90% of our power with Nuclear, all of the coal fired plants would have been shut down in the 1990's, acid rain would have been reduced without over regulation and we'd be producing a lot less CO2. We would also be able to use the coal and the Natural Gas in this country to run transportation, instead of making electricty, assuming that the cost of compressed natural gas and coal liquids competed with Gasoline.
