Burbank is a bit of a dump - I worked there for a few years when I was flying cargo (I was based out of there). There's some decent stuff in the old downtown area (BBG - Burbank Bar & Grill - is fun and a nice setting, etc.) Mostly though I'd have to say if you really want to have fun in southern CA, Burbank isn't the place to be. If you want the beach scene and just simple fun people watching, go to Venice. For clubs/nightlife/getting drunk I'd suggest Hermosa Beach. For a lot of restaurants and shopping and stuff in a pedestrian setting I'd suggest either Manhattan Beach or 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica (did I actually recommend Santa Monica to someone? Geez, I'm slipping. . .)

Some of Burbank is nice. Mostly it's just like the rest of the San Fernando Valley though - irrelevant.
