So, I am going to chime in....
I think golf is a game of skill, patience, and repetition. I wouldn't call it an active sport. It does qualify as a sport.
Baseball is a just a game. Barely a sport, same level as golf. Most of baseball is just standing around and waiting. I cannot believe people still watch it. (maybe in the fifties when it was a good way to kill an afternoon). I actually think its a more of a past-time than a sport....but I digress.
Golfers are not athletes in the traditional sense. If your pulse isn't high for large portions of the time, then its not an athletic challenge.
True athletes are people like Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan, Ray Bourque, Beckham, Federer.....
these guys are exerting themselves the entire time. Not to mention having to outhink their opponents.
Oh, and as for racecar drivers, their pulses are sky-rocketing the entire time. They have to concentrate for far long periods than golfers....I think they make the cut as athletes.
In summary...golfers, skilled past-timers. Baseball, past-timers.
