Seat removal, 71 super beetle. Help!

I am about to lose my mind.
I am trying to get the driver seat out of my 71 beetle. I bought rebuilt replacements. As far as can tell, all that holds the seat in is a lever on the right side, and a spring. The spring is detached, the lever is turned and the teeth that hold the seat in are completely off. But it catches when its about 2/3 of the way off. Its catching on the inboard rail. Is there some hidden thing I need to disengage?
Please someone help me before I do something violent involving a tow chain and my F150.
