Well, I got it as clean as it's going to get. What I learned:

First, don't cut your thumb on the razor blade.

I found that MEK works well and will remove nearly 100% of the skud. Use a rag and circular motion. All that remains is some small places of discoloration left over. No big deal.

Some of the hard stuff needs to be removed with a razor blade.

I also found that paint remover works.

Finished it off with good water bath, then air to blow the water away and will follow up with alcohol before I seal the case. That is a way off at the moment.

Next step is to JB weld the points suggested by our hosts book.
