Not telling you how to run your business, but in general I find if you treat people like professionals and compensate them like professionals, they'll act like professionals. If you treat people like they're worthless, compensate them like they're worthless, they'll be worthless.
Yes, there is a percentage that will "slack", but in general those are my observations. Have you stopped to consider that possibly you're creating a "self-fulfilling prophecy" here?
