they're the first babies of our own birds that we've ever had. the parents are two of our own birds: de Blauwe Aaanslag (mother) and Martijn vanRijn (father). if you know pet birds, they never sit still so they're really hard to photograph. i'll get pics of the parents when i can.
Üter is pronounced like eUU-terr and Brunhilde is just "BROON-hilt". Üter was named afte that fat little german kid on the Simpsons, and Brunhilde was just something that popped into our heads when looking up some Dutch baby names. i know Brunhilde is German, but for some reason it came up in a search for Dutch names. go figure that one out.
in any case, they are adorable in person, still figuring out what this big crazy world is all about. they have one thing figured out though:
sitting in front of an infrared heat lamp sunning yourself, while someone feeds you, never gets boring.
