I got it right away. About 7-8 yrs. ago, the then mayor of DC, Anthony Williams, fired a staffer for using the word "niggardly". Actually, I can't remember if he resigned or was told to resign. But he said it in a press conference, used it totally in correct context and no one else in the room knew what it meant (must have all been products of DC public schools). How did those folks do on their SAT's? It's pretty sad when someone has to quit their job over outrage by a bunch of jounralists and politicians who don't have a good enough vocabularly to be journalists or politicians.
