You answered your own question with the following:
I just recently bought an 83SC Cab (hence my screen name) and I love it. Its a blast. Period.
That is the point. Nothing too fancy you can't work on it yet still has all of the fun when driving. Congrats on the excellent choice! Maybe you stumbled into the cool group, but maybe subconsciously you knew what it was about all along.
Don't worry about offending "the non-SC folks out there," just keep on having fun and don't listen to their nonsense! Enjoy it!
