I had no idea how many 40 something pot smokers were wandering the earth until my wife and i saw Steely Dan at Merriwether. Both times the lawn was a sea of mellowness. Don't touch the stuff myself.
As to the Beatles there are, IMO, 3 types of Beatles music. The kiddie music from early on (hold your hand, etc), the GOOD stuff (Abbey Road) and the crapola that Lennon had too much influence on.
