Rick: Haven't checked the fuel pump/reg/filter because it seemed to me that those were static situations that wouldn't change during a 10 minute warm-up period. Can't hurt to check pressure anyhow, just to be able to eliminate that factor.

Tobra: I may have exaggerated on the start-up idle rpms; probably more around 1,700. Typically, the rpms drop to about 1,000 after a couple of minutes. As far as vacuum goes, I've replaced the hoses pretty recently, and even put hose clamps on a few of them. Sprayed carb cleaner around the hose connections and where the filter housing meets the throttle body, and no rpm surges.

The car is still up on ramps because of other work I'm doing, so I can't say right now if it will drive. However, it was drivable at the end of last season.

*** I'm sorry, but I failed to add an important detail (duh) --- I very recently installed the electronic ignition. It is a Hot-Spark brand unit that operates with a magnetic sensor, and replaces the points and condenser. It is enclosed within the distributor body. If necessary, I can put the points/condenser back in this weekend to eliminate the Hot-Spark from the equation.
