An enormous drilling project has been going on for decades next door to Beverly Hills high school. There's another decades-old drilling project next door to the VA Hospital in Westwood, near UCLA. There are rigs off shore from Ventura/Oxnard right now, and have been there for a very long time. Another project has been going on for close to a century next door to Farmer's Market in mid-city L.A.
We've lived with oil drilling most, if not all of our lives. So I really can't see how with the new technology increased drilling will upset our environment.
After all, it isn't the oil that's continually polluting the ocean water in SoCal. It's more sewage from homes and businesses.
The real problem is we haven't the refinery capacity to manufacture the oil from increased drilling. Until new refineries are built, increased drilling in CA. is pointless.
