Late cars are different then early cars. There is no speedo cable. it's all electronic.

Could be a few things.
Check all your grounds and clean any that dont look shiny
Could be the impulse sender/gear on the transmission. Easy to replace.
Could be the wire from the impulse sender to the gauge cluster
Last thing it could be is the gear

I'm betting though it's one or a combination of the first 3. For me it was the wire between the impulse sender and the cluster.
