IMHO, Polaris and Hayward have way too many moving parts that go bad. I'm 44, and I;ve been dealing with this issue since I was 15 (1978). For the last 9 years I've used a Kreepy Crawly - one moving part only (the Wankel/Rotary Engine version of the autonomous pool clearner). VERY few parts to replace - 40-50 $$ per year in maintenance. Plus, no secondary booster pump required - it simply runs off the main pool/suction pump!!!!!!!
