thanks for the reply's. I wish I would have taken a picture of mine while it was off the car. I am hoping for a picture looking straight down at the vane with it closed. The bit I am talking about is right around the edge of the vane on the side with the throttle cable connection. It is a very smooth slit that starts at the center pivot pin and goes about a 1/4 of the way around the edge of the vane, getting evenly larger until its stops with a smooth edge.

It is a very clean slit so it could have been manufactured this way but I cannot imagine why anyone would engineer a TB this way as thats what the bypass screw is for.
