Any plant experts (for LEGAL plants)
Probably 5-6 years ago we purchased a tree for our landscaping. As I recall it is a crabapple bush grafted to a tree trunk. It has been a very slow grower since we planted it but an overall nice little tree. This year I noticed it seemed to be growing VERY quickly. Upon further inspection the leaves on the new growth are different in shape and color than the "older" areas. Is it possible for the base plant to grow through the grafted bush? I'm just curious, I figure I'm just going to have to prune it more frequently. Any thoughts?
