I do vintage. '85 Colnago Super with Campy Super Record, and an '86 Peugeot PY10fc; first carbon fiber race bike produced. The Colnago is a workhorse, but that 53/42 gearing in the hills is a killer. The Peugeot - what can be said? It's a 22-year-old bike with Campy Record, but still weighs about 17 pounds. Light even by today's standards.

My main rider is a Cinelli Spirit with newer Shimano Ultegra. Yeah, friction shift is good to relive old days, but STI can't be beat. I'd like to go German on my next bike. Storck makes a sweet carbon ride, but Jeez, $7,700 for just the frame? C'mon...

Old steel still makes for the best ride.
