Do some research. "Herpes" is a catch-all term. Generally HSV-1 is oral and HSV-2 is genital, but they can cross infect. A large percentage of the population has or has been exposed to HSV-1 - incredibly common.
Don't "hit" one thinking you're ok - someone with oral herpes (HSV-1) can transmit that and you can get a genital case of HSV-1.
