Hey Jabb,
Thanks for the lead! I'm interested in a car that needs pretty much nothing if possible, especially bodywork. This is one reason why I'm not just going to just jump on this local 6, it does need some things. I know what you mean about jumping on cars that are easy to buy (local, cheap, etc.), I've heard horror stories about the aftermath. I don't have a problem flying to see a car that fits my wants or shipping it so location is not an issue. I am not rich so buying the right car up front will save $ in the long run.
Though from what you mention about the car in TN , it sounds good as a nice project. My problem is I don't have a place to strip the car down for paint or other major bodywork. Also, I'm not really interested in a project.
I appriciate all leads but here's some info to help narrow the field for what I'm looking for: A factory built 6 (No converts). Close to perfect and stock as I can get without going too crazy on the price. I'm willing to spend around $20K but will go more if I really like it and it's worth it. The car isn't going to be a garage queen (it will be driven) so it needs to run, stop, turn well. Color isn't important. I want a factory 6 not because of power, I was going to settle for a real nice 4. A 6 is in reach as never before, a reasonably priced dream car for me so to speak. So I figure why not?
I'm buying a 914 as a kind of gift to myself after my divorce. I've wanted a 914 for about 18 years now (more than half my life), it's time to stop wanting. If I don't get one this time, it's probably not going to happen. Not with what real estate is going for nowadays. Things are good for me right now to get one. I want to get in and drive and wash and wax and change the oil and replace 32 year old parts when they break.
Thanks again,
Jim
